From Classroom to Nursery: Practical Lessons in Horticulture
The Upper Primary students of Udaya Higher Secondary School, Manjeshwar recently visited the Kerala Agricultural University Extension Training Center, Manjeshwar, as part of their field trip program.
The visit was organized under the Government of Kerala’s State Horticulture Mission Project – “Establishment of Small-Scale Nursery for Horticulture Crops.” Students were introduced to the importance of nurseries in promoting sustainable agriculture and enhancing the availability of quality planting materials.
During the trip, the young learners had the opportunity to see firsthand how nurseries are developed and maintained. They gained practical knowledge about the propagation of horticultural crops, modern techniques in nursery management, and the role of agriculture in ensuring food security.
The field visit was highly interactive, with resource persons from the Training Center explaining different practices in a simple and engaging manner suitable for the students. The experience not only enriched their classroom learning but also sparked curiosity and awareness about agriculture, environment, and sustainability.
The school expressed gratitude to the KAU Extension Training Center, Manjeshwar and the State Horticulture Mission for making this educational visit a memorable and insightful experience for the students.
