Padma Shri Awardee Harekala Hajabba Inspires Students on Teachers’ Day
The school celebrated Teachers’ Day with great joy and gratitude on Friday, 12th September 2025, under the leadership of the Student Council.
The day began with a series of morning games for teachers, creatively organized by the Student Council, which brought smiles and laughter, setting a lively tone for the celebrations.
The formal programme commenced at 2:00 pm in the school auditorium. The highlight of the event was the presence of the Chief Guest, Sri Harekala Hajabba, a Padma Shri awardee (2020), popularly known as the “Orange Seller” who, despite being uneducated himself, worked tirelessly to build a school in his village to ensure that others had the opportunity to study. In his message, he emphasized the value of education as a tool of empowerment, reminding students that learning can transform society.
Principal Mr. Jerald Ivan Crasta addressed the gathering and spoke about the true meaning of education. He reminded the students and teachers that knowledge should make a person humble and simple, and that real learning is reflected not just in academic success but also in character.
Rev. Fr. Santhosh Dsouza, Campus Director, in his message, highlighted the spiritual dimension of teaching. He noted that teachers are partakers in God’s mission, shaping young minds and guiding them on the path of truth and wisdom. He encouraged students to see the presence of God in their teachers and to show them due respect and love.
The programme also featured a variety of cultural performances by students, including songs, dances, and skits, all dedicated to honouring the role of teachers in shaping their lives. These performances expressed the deep gratitude and affection of the students towards their mentors.
The celebration concluded with warm wishes and expressions of appreciation for the teachers, leaving behind a memorable experience of joy, respect, and inspiration.
